Die Once, Born Again
Man, watching Kamen Rider My-Th Episode 8, “A Cornered Rat Will Bite a Cat,” gave me a serious flashback to the old-school Showa pacing I grew up with, even though the premise is totally wild. In My-Th, poor Sora gets absolutely wrecked by Maou and is left staring at the reaper’s door, completely paralyzed by…
MY-TH’s seventh episode gives Sora a formidable challenge when a particularly powerful Fukashigi appears and withstands his finishing attack. Sora is determined to defeat it for Yuna’s sake, but the battle grows more complicated when Muton, angered with My-Th, attacks and transforms into a Kamen Rider herself. The arrival of another enemy pushes the fight…
In the sixth MY-TH episode, Sora analyzes a Fukashigi that has escaped and pursues it with Tatsuomi, leaving Yuna behind when she says she is feeling unwell. Jyao returns and continues targeting My-Th, but Vanken intervenes and indicates that Jyao may be pursuing the wrong opponent. The confrontation adds another layer to the question of…
MY-TH’s fifth episode raises the stakes for Sora because Yuna’s well-being becomes an urgent concern. Tatsuomi notices that Sora is unusually open about his feelings, while the appearance of Kamen Rider Jyao creates another confrontation. Jyao’s interest in My-Th’s transformation device suggests that the Riders’ conflict involves more than a disagreement over how to fight…
MY-TH’s fourth episode returns to the case of Shiori’s missing father. Sora and Yuna work to uncover a way to defeat a Fukashigi that can recover after apparently being defeated. Sora’s Wolf Frame becomes important in overcoming the creature’s abilities, while Tatsuomi’s involvement brings him closer to Sora’s secret. The episode also uses a flashback…
In MY-TH’s third episode, Sora and Yuna investigate the disappearance of a girl’s father. Their investigation leads to another encounter with a Fukashigi, but the fight becomes more complicated when a mysterious black cat Rider appears. Tatsuomi also moves closer to the truth about Sora, and the episode begins developing the idea that more than…
MY-TH’s second episode expands the conflict by introducing Kamen Rider Datt, a Rabbit-themed Rider who interrupts Sora’s fight against a Fukashigi. Meanwhile, Tatsuomi Asao investigates Sora while secretly working for the Zodiac Alliance. The episode makes it clear that Sora’s greatest challenge may not simply be defeating monsters, but understanding the motives of other people…
The first episode of MY-TH introduces Sora Otosumi, a household meister who secretly transforms into Kamen Rider My-Th to protect Yuna Mizuki and fight the mysterious Fukashigi. The story also introduces the awakening of the Twelve Zodiac Alliance, setting up a conflict between Sora’s independent activities and a group that believes it has a responsibility…
The meat of the story kicks off with our cynical protagonist, Sora Otosumi, getting absolutely brick-walled by a ridiculously durable Fang Inexplicable (or Kiba Fukashigi) whose spin attack completely shuts down his finishing move. While the monster slips into a human disguise and vanishes, the real drama shifts over to the Zodiac Alliance. Enter Mutn,…
Kamen Rider My-Th Episode 6, “Become an Eagle!”, really delivered the goods. As a guy who’s watched a lot of these shows over the years, I love a good mystery, and this episode drops a massive one right in our laps. The bad guys are clearly gunning for a historic grudge match, but honestly, it’s…
