Die Once, Born Again
Man, Toei is really cooking with Kamen Rider My-Th, and episode 8, “A Cornered Rat Will Bite a Cat,” absolutely delivered. It’s got that gritty, early Heisei era vibe that I’ve been missing for a while now. Seeing Sora get completely wrecked by Maou right out of the gate was a massive gut punch. Usually,…
The meat of the story kicks off with our cynical protagonist, Sora Otosumi, getting absolutely brick-walled by a ridiculously durable Fang Inexplicable (or Kiba Fukashigi) whose spin attack completely shuts down his finishing move. While the monster slips into a human disguise and vanishes, the real drama shifts over to the Zodiac Alliance. Enter Mutn,…
Kamen Rider My-Th Episode 6, “Become an Eagle!”, really delivered the goods. As a guy who’s watched a lot of these shows over the years, I love a good mystery, and this episode drops a massive one right in our laps. The bad guys are clearly gunning for a historic grudge match, but honestly, it’s…
The fifth episode, “Will It Be a Dog or a Snake?”, turns up the heat on the series’ central conflict. The plot follows Sora as he frantically tracks down a missing shipment of Seed X-Eggs necessary for Yuna, whose health is failing. Sora’s uncharacteristic emotional panic makes his ally/rival Tatsuomi Asao incredibly suspicious. The stakes…
This fourth episode really hits deep because it stops focusing so much on the flashy transformation suits and looks at the heavy choices the main character has to make. You see a young man carrying a weight that he never asked for, trying to balance his normal everyday life with this massive spiritual duty. The…
Episode 3 of Kamen Rider My-Th really steps up the pace and shows that this series isn’t playing around when it comes to combining classic folklore with heavy, modern themes. Following up on the intense conclusion of the “Running Tortoise and Modern Hare” arc, this episode dives deeper into how these ancient mythologies are physically…
Honestly, that first episode of Kamen Rider My-Th, “The Mouse Meister and the Young Lady,” really hit the ground running, and I am giving it a solid A-. Breaking a decades-long tradition by making the main Rider a mouse instead of an insect is a massive gamble, but it actually feels incredibly fresh. The whole…
Kamen Rider My-Th episode 2 really steps up the pace, and honestly, the plot is getting wild. The big takeaway here is that the Zodiac Society or the Zyunishi Doumei, is actively hunting down the exact same monsters, the Inexplicable, that My-Th is dealing with. It’s creating this crazy three-way dynamic that completely shakes up…
